Embark on a challenging and rewarding full-day hiking adventure to the iconic 7 Cascades, also known as Tamarin Falls. This 5 to 6-hour journey takes you deep into the heart of a lush tropical valley, where spectacular waterfalls, natural pools, river crossings and volcanic rock formations create an unforgettable wilderness experience.

Despite its name, the 7 Cascades area is home to 11 waterfalls, with additional seasonal waterfalls appearing after periods of heavy rainfall. Follow your guide through dense forest, rocky paths and uneven terrain as you discover the beauty of Mauritius’ natural landscapes.

Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views, opportunities for photographs and, when weather and river conditions permit, refreshing swims in natural freshwater pools.

With steep descents, technical sections and river crossings, this full-day hike is designed for active and experienced hikers seeking a more adventurous experience. A good level of physical fitness, stamina and confidence on challenging terrain are essential.

Meeting Point – Henrietta Bus Terminal

Meet your hiking guide at Henrietta Bus Terminal. The meeting time will be confirmed upon booking. Once all participants have arrived, follow your guide to the trailhead, located approximately 1.5 km away.

Stop 1 – Forest Trail

Begin your full-day hiking adventure through the lush tropical forest. Follow natural trails surrounded by dense vegetation, rocky terrain and the beautiful landscapes of the Tamarin Valley.

Stop 2 – 7 Cascades / Tamarin Falls

Discover the spectacular waterfalls of the valley, including beautiful cascades and natural freshwater pools. Enjoy photo opportunities and admire the surrounding wilderness.

Stop 3 – River Crossings & Natural Pools

Continue through challenging sections of the trail, including river crossings, steep descents and uneven terrain. Weather and river conditions permitting, enjoy refreshing swims in selected natural pools.

Return Journey

After exploring the waterfalls and surrounding forest, follow the guide back along the trail towards the starting point.

Standard age guideline: 14 to 60 years.

Participation outside this age range may be considered upon prior notice and approval.

Children and older participants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

What to Bring

Hiking shoes with good grip (open-toe footwear is not permitted).

1.5 to 2 litres of water per person.

Small daypack (10–20 L).

Cap or hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Mosquito or insect repellent.

Sportswear or lightweight, breathable clothing.

Swimwear and a towel (optional, for swimming in natural pools).

Snacks such as energy bars, fruit or nuts.

Personal medication and allergy information.

Rain jacket in case of drizzle.

Physical Requirements

Hiking grade: 4/4 – Challenging & Technical.

Good physical fitness and stamina are essential.

The route includes steep descents and ascents, rocky terrain, river crossings and uneven, root-covered trails.

Some technical sections may require using your hands for balance and support.

Strong knees, good balance and confidence on uneven ground are highly recommended.

Previous hiking experience is recommended.
